TOWN OF KILLINGTON AND LONG TRAIL BREWERY CREATE LARGEST MARKETING PARTNERSHIP IN TOWN’S HISTORY

Town of Killington and Long Trail Brewery Create Largest Marketing Partnership in Town’s History

EDT summer event partnership leverages more than $25,000 from key statewide partners

Killington, Vt:  The Killington Office of Economic Development & Tourism (EDT) announced today that it has secured sponsorship for its summer events from two major Vermont businesses – Long Trail Brewing and Casella Waste Management.  The sponsorships will help support a very aggressive summer events schedule from May to October in the Town of Killington.

“We could not be happier for the continued support from Long Trail Brewing and Casella for our summer events programs,” says Suzie Dundas, EDT Director. “They have been terrific partners on past events and we’re looking forward to working with both businesses in an increased capacity throughout the summer this year.”

Adds Brian Walsh, President of Long Trail Brewing, “We’re pleased to be supporting the EDT’s summer events, and look forward to supporting our partners and friends in the Killington community. By working together, we hope to expand our reach and bring new visitors to the Killington region over the coming months.“

In 2011, the EDT-produced Cooler in the Mountains Summer Concert Series was presented by Long Trail Brewing and sponsored in part by Casella and Killington Resort. This year, Long Trail Brewing will be a sponsor of all summer activities, including The Killington Stage Race, Long Trail Century Ride, Cooler in the Mountains Concert series, and more. Casella has also increased their involvement with the concert series at Killington Resort and will be on-site to promote and support greening and eco-friendly initiatives. The concerts will also pair well with Long Trail’s existing ECO Brewing green program, dedicated to being as eco-conscious as possible in the brewing process.  This year’s first show featuring Rusted Root kicks off on July 28th.

These increased partnerships support one of the EDT’s core goals for 2012, which was to continue all events and marketing initiatives, despite a 40% budget cut from 2011. The assistance from the new partnerships will help to expand event and promotional marketing outreach – reaching key markets like Boston and Western Massachusetts – for summer events and recreational activities. This structure has also been applied to other EDT initiatives like Killington Wedding Marketing, in which more than 45% of the program budget was funded by outside businesses.

Major summer events in Killington include the Long Trail Stage Race, Killington Wine Festival, Cooler in the Mountains Summer Concerts, and Killington Classic Motorcycle Touring Rally, among others.  More details can be found at DiscoverKillington.com, by following DiscoverKillington on Facebook, or by visiting LongTrail.com.  Information on Killington Resort events and activities can be found at Killington.com.
