Killington Dog Days
July 16-17, 10 am - 5 pm, Sherburne Library Fields on River Road in Killington
Killington turns into a dog paradise for this two-day event on July 16 & 17, featuring two national disc dog competitions -- the UFO World Championship and the Skyhoundz DiscDogathon -- dog agility demonstrations, games for owners and their pets, pet vendors, and more.
Key elements of this event are the SkyHoundz and UFO disc dog competitions, two national qualifying events which expect to bring more than 40-60 teams of dogs and their handlers to the area for the weekend. The Disc Dog competitions include various categories and levels of play, and have room for amateur and local dogs and their owners to compete. Registration forms will be available online starting early July.
Enjoy great viewing of the national disc dogs competitions on the picturesque Sherburne Library fields on River Road in Killington. Bring your dog and be prepared to spend the weekend playing games, and watching demo activities for dogs including...
-Disc Dog seminars and lessons from national pros at UFO and SkyHoundz
-Demonstrations of dog agility from The Dog School
-Demonstration of Canine Freestyle Dance by PAWS TO DANCE
-On-site nail clipping (with donation) by Muddy Paws Canine Center
-Demonstration of using Tellington TTouch and essences to calm and relax your dog by Cathy Wells. (Cathy will also be offering animal communication reading sessions)
-On-site dog tag printing by Andy Culonghi
Other groups on-site will include dog-themed vendors, such as Petco, S. E. Smith, Caring Canines Therapy, Heart Song Reiki, Riverside Veterinary Care, Good Dog! Cookies, Therapy Dogs of Vermont, Wagatha's and Glen Highland Farm. Various rescue groups will also be present, like Green Mountain Pug Rescue, Second Chance Boxer Rescue, Above & Beyond English Setter Rescue, Angels Among Us Pet Hostel and the Rutland Area Disaster Animal Response Team. Food supplied by The Phat Italian. A special thank you to Rutland Vet Clinic in Castleton Corners, who will not be present.
If you'd like to sign up for a FREE Disc-Dog lesson with a Disc Dog pro Sunday at noon, please email us with your name, dog's name, dog's size/breed, and contact number. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class or your spot may be given away.
The Rutland County Humane Society will also be selling t-shirts, leashes, canvas bags, and coolers all weekend, including items from Buddy's Bandanas!
Doggy cool-down stations and shade will be available, but please note that dogs not involved in competition must be on a leash during the event.
Games provided by the Rutland County Humane Society will be free, with a suggested donation, and will include fun competitions like 50-Paw Dash, Musical Carpets, Timed Barrel Race, Owner Look-Alike Contest, Longest Kiss, and Fastest Dresser contest. Guests who donate will received a doggy-themed gift!
